Record attendance, sold out exhibit hall and a mix of great presentations. Those are just few of the highlights from this year’s conference. The 28th Annual MAPA Conference was January 8-10 this year. We began the conference with our annual Casino Night. Attendees received their vouchers and began to play the tables. We also enjoyed the NCAA National Championship game on the big screen that evening.

The next day was the official kick off to the conference as we began the morning with the Annual Business Meeting. Following the meeting we welcomed Ned Yost, Kansas City Royals Manager, as the Keynote Speaker. Before his keynote address, Ned met with attendees at the “Meet and Greet” and signed autographs. Following Ned Yost, we had updates from Asphalt Pavement Alliance and MoDOT. Next up were the MAPA Paving Awards.

MAPA’s Annual Paving Awards are designed to recognize those projects which represent the highest quality construction. This year we recognized 17 companies for their exceptional performance in their respective categories, nine in total. We would like to again congratulate those who were awarded for their dedication to placing high quality asphalt pavement.

Next on the schedule was the PAC Auction. As always, Benny Walker and Jim McCullough took to the stage and began their legendary performance as MAPA PAC Auctioneers. This year we raised a record of over $14,000 towards our PAC Auction. We concluded with some Karaoke provided by MayeCreate. Most watched, some sang!

The next morning began with some breakfast and right back into session. We added something new to the presentations this year, Committee Updates. We had our committee chairs present on what they have been working on and goals for the upcoming year. The morning concluded with a MoDOT Field Office update and right into attendance prize drawings.

We would like to thank the attendees, sponsors, and speakers for another successful MAPA Conference.
