Feb. 11th, 2026 – Feb. 12th, 2026
Wyndham Executive Center in Columbia, MO
Each February, the asphalt community in Missouri gathers for the Black to Basics Spring Training — a two-day, in-depth professional development event designed to strengthen skills, share technical knowledge, and connect peers across the industry. Hosted by Missouri Asphalt Pavement Association (MAPA), this training draws contractors, engineers, plant operators, inspectors, agency personnel, and other asphalt professionals interested in sharpening their craft and staying current with best practices.
What makes Black to Basics special:
- Comprehensive, expert-led sessions covering a wide range of core topics — including safety, inspection and testing procedures, asphalt mix design and construction principles, plant operations, and workforce management.
- Multiple learning tracks — allowing attendees to choose the focus that best fits their role, from quality control/quality assurance to asphalt design, construction practices, and professional development.
- Networking and collaboration — the event brings together individuals from different sectors of the asphalt industry, creating opportunities to exchange ideas, troubleshoot common challenges, and build relationships that extend beyond the classroom.
- Practical value for all skill levels — whether you’re a seasoned veteran or new to the industry, Black to Basics delivers foundational knowledge and advanced insights, helping you and your team build better — safer, more durable — asphalt pavements.
By attending Black to Basics Spring Training, you’re not just investing in your own professional development — you’re helping elevate standards across Missouri’s asphalt industry. We look forward to seeing you there.
