The Missouri Asphalt Pavement Association is proud to recognize workplace safety advocates and quality asphalt projects completed throughout the state of Missouri.
Paving Awards
Awards will be given to winners and runners-up of outstanding projects in a total of ten categories. Asphalt producers, project contractors, owners, and engineers will receive recognition for the effort required to produce such high-quality work.
All paving award applications must be Submitted by November 15.
All projects submitted to the Paving Awards program must have been completed in the past 12 months except for the Longevity Award. Submissions will be judged on the following criteria (Private and Commercial Category has separate criteria and application): smoothness, longitudinal joints, segregation, degree of difficulty, innovative practices, uniqueness of the project, and overall quality. Please see the categories below, determine which your project falls under.

Safety Innovation Award
The Missouri Asphalt Pavement Association is proud to recognize innovation in safety throughout the state of Missouri. Recognition will be given to applicants annually and will be selected based on the following criteria:
- The innovation must be relevant and applicable to promote the health and safety of the asphalt paving and production industry.
- The innovation must be effective and original.
Innovations can improve already existing technologies.
Safety Innovation ApplicationSafe Worker Awards
The Missouri Asphalt Pavement Association (MAPA) is pleased to introduce its annual Safe Worker Awards program. This program honors individuals who work each day for our MAPA member companies to make asphalt plants and highway work zones safer. All chosen employees will receive a safety jacket with the MAPA logo. There is no one overall winner – we salute ALL Safe Workers who are chosen by our member producers.
How does it work?
- To submit Safe Worker Award employee(s) from your company, complete the form no later than November 15.
- You must be a MAPA producer member to submit an employee(s).
- MAPA will invoice your company $130 for the submission(s). This fee includes one safety jacket and plaque.
- All submissions will be Safe Worker Award winners and will be recognized at the MAPA Annual Conference in January.
Safe Worker Award Nominees Should:
- Be trained in safety and health.
- Seek other enhancement safety training and information.
- Accept full responsibility for their own safety.
- Carry out their work duties in the safest manner possible.
- Watch out for fellow workers.
- Report unsafe conditions.
- Recognize hazards and conditions that may be or become unsafe.
- Know how to visualize the job task and decide or suggest safe solutions to abate hazards.
- Be sought out by others for their safety input.
- Report near misses.
- Be willing to stop work due to an unsafe condition.
- Be respected by their peers and co-workers.
- Not had a personal injury within the last calendar year.
